Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park
Rolling foothills ranchland and Bow River views between Calgary and Cochrane.
About Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park
Glenbow Ranch protects a sweep of native grassland and river bluffs on the north bank of the Bow River, with long paved and gravel trails ideal for walking and cycling and big views west to the mountains.
A brief history
Plans for the park began in 2006, when the children of Alberta rancher Neil Harvie sold their family ranch land to the Government of Alberta below market value to protect it from development. It was designated a provincial park on April 17, 2008, and officially opened to visitors on August 9, 2011.
RV tips
- Treat it as a day-use stop. Overnight camping isn't part of the park experience, so plan to stay in a nearby campground.
- Gravel parking areas can be tight for big rigs at busy times. Arrive early on weekends.
Before you go: Hours, road conditions, campground availability, passes and fire bans change. Check the official source below, 511 Alberta and Alberta Fire Bans before you travel. National parks need a Parks Canada pass, and Kananaskis needs a Conservation Pass.
